Many professional women retain their surname after marriage/divorce etc. I wouldn't think it's anything to worry about.
Why on earth did the Deputy change her surname?

And the deputy should be signing cheques in his/her own name as a signatory.
there is no suggestion of dishonesty or fraud is there ?

If poor mr Aloysius cholmondeley ponsonby-goodbody-smythe decides that he needs a shorter cheque book or something and shortens his name to Al Smyth [to fit the shorter cheque book -um and cheques] - so long as he says yes this is me and the cheques are mine too - then there is no harm done

Lol, sorry, the Deputy changed her own name? That's fine. Wouldnt worry about it.
oops hi Barmaid
I wondered why he would change the mothers name
I could only think of fees ....
Foresthill,
I am Deputy for my Mother who has Dementia, when sorting her bank account I emphasized that I want "No Card" / "No Chequebook" the only way money was taken out of her account was through Bank Transfer with a receipt that was entered into an accounts book in my Mothers Name, about 3 weeks ago I wanted to pay for a meal for my Niece & Husband in thanks for what they have done for my Mother, I made sure this was above board with the O.P.Guardian B/Ham, this was permitted by them.
Peter, I had a late lawyers lunch. This probably means my practising certificate should be suspendered until tomorrow.......
I should have also have said, for your own reputation, safety, the OPG should have been informed.
there are lots of professional women who use a "professional" name. When got married, i retained my maiden name for work purposes as i had to change it with my professional body, which i couldn't be bothered to do immediately. there was nothing odd about it
