Is there still a fire of some sort (whether coal, gas or electric) in the fireplace or, for example, is there now central heating in the property?

Fablon shrinks on hot surfaces, so you clearly couldn't use it if there's still a fire there but (assuming that the marble has a suitably smooth surface) you could probably do so otherwise.

No i do not use the fire, i have use the central heating instead!.. but if i was ever to move house would it be easy to take back off without damage?
Even if there is no fire in the fireplace , Fablon or similar will leave a sticky residue behind.

Again if no fire think of getting a screen made.
I haven't used fablon for years so it may have moved on but if not I'm sure it would leave a sticky residue on the marble after you peeled it off (and take any loose bits with it).
If I was a landlord and there was a marble fireplace in the residence I was renting, I would be as peeved as hell if someone stuck fablon on it
Sounds like an architectural nightmare!
Fablon can the devils own job to remove once its on Roxyy....is the marble really that awful ?
