Right..how do i ask this without rambling on?...ok..Facebook recently changed as you all probably know and in the chat box where u normally have your friends and family it now appears that if you chat to anyone they now appear in that chat box as "more contacts" question is how do u get rid of them ?..ive tried everything! thanks in advance

yes i know that but their name still appears on the chat list

don't appear to be deleteable unless you unfriend ?

Thats the problem..they are NOT friends...they appear in the chat box even if say i was selling something and have asked a question about it...just wont go away, lol

had a look and there is nothing on deleting from chat

yup !! have been trying to delete but it just doesn't seem possible

I have not got this, but my privacy settings are all set to 'Friends only'.

So try altering yours via the options and see if that works.

Nah,,tried everything...dont want to permanently block them in the event they want to talk again, wife has the same problem on her facebook too....all her settings were for friends and i changed mine...nothing, wonder why facebook does this without giving the solution, thanks guys.

I never use chat for this very reason. I prefer to use, "Messenger." I have mine turned off all the time.

I have also tried to delete chats with people i bought stuff from, their names pop up and I just cannot delete them from the list

Well im not really sure what ive done but i seem to have solved the problem...i had 9 + unwanted people on the chat and now their all gone....is it possible they just all off at same time?..only thing i remember changing is what was suggested earlier by Slackalice and changed the privacy settings to friends...fingers crossed.

I seem to have got rid of six of these non friends in my chat box (I'd pm'd them on a group site) by opening the little setting wheel on their little picture in chat, deleting the conversation then blocking them. Next time I logged into facebook they had gone.
