Sade s ad -(miserable) + (obes)e
poss Victor Hugo, any letters would help.
Danny, this is from the Sunday Times, crossing letters give D?F?E - so I think it's Defoe.
DEFOE? (as in FED up and O(BES)E )

Or CHESTERTON, if it's not cryptic ...
;-)
OK Thanks. I take it that this is not cryptic then.
On second thoughts LOL.
It IS cryptic. It's 25 Down - the Down is relevant. Def is Fed (up), miserable and the O and E are the first and last ('extremely') letters of Obese.
Defoe was my answer. Miserable fed up=def plus extremely o(bes)e
And mine
Question Author
