We used to sail with the Quiberon, a French crew from Plymouth to Santander then drive for 2 days down to our holiday home in the Algarve..terrible crossing ..Bay of Biscay was always wild
Not a brilliant sailor myself, minty, so try to stay in the middle where there's less rocking and try to keep the same rhythm, to help my stomach stay centred. My poor Mum could've got sick in a rowing boat!
St. Georges Channel can be like that too. You have the Irish sea, The Severn estuary, the English Channel and the Atlantic, all going in different directions at once!
I was supposed to have done rowing at school, but because of my size I never got to row. I was always the cox! (I also have a very loud voice - my Mum always said I'd be destined for the stage, as my voice carries. I don't need a microphone. But I also have to be careful what I say in public, as a person a hundred feet away might hear me!)
Sounds almost like a Perfect Storm, WBM!
I would've hated that too, minty. I try and stay above water if at all possible. I'm sure I drowned or suffocated in some way in a past life. I can't even stand the bedcovers over my face. I have to breathe cold air.
