The kick-off is taken from the centre spot. All players must be in their own half of the field of play, and all opposing players must remain at least 10 yards (9.16m) from the ball (a distance marked on the pitch by the centre circle), until the ball is in play.

The ball is initially stationary until it is put into play by being kicked. A stipulation that this kick must be forward was eliminated in a 2016 rules change.[2] The player who has first kicked the ball may not touch it again until it has been touched by another player.

It has been another bad week for referees, Captain (must have been some stag-do)

Indeed it must; wonder what would have been said if a group of players had cleared off for a stag do?

(In real time though I think the officials would be hard pushed to spot such a thing; certainly with the unexpected kickoff procedure.)

As soon as I saw the still in the OP I thought 'no goal'

In each game I would like to see each manger given 2 opportunities to have an incident looked at by the officials. Once they have used those that's it even if they think the referee misses something blatant like a stuck on penalty.
