High Street Shops
42 Answers
A few days ago, I had an hour to waste, waiting for a Doctor's appointment, so I thought I would browse in town centre shops, After a few minds, I wondered who really uses the big High Street names anymore !
W H Smith seemed to full of high prices and frippery. I bought my Guardian there but at the till, someone tried to sell me a chocolate bar I didn't want.
Boots just seemed to be an irrelevance....there was nothing in there that I couldn't have bought from any Supermarket and bought more cheaply.
Burtons seemed to full of tat !
Do many many people drive into their town centres to use shops like this anymore ?

I'd always go into WHSmiths for their range of magazines and stationery. They used to sell records too, if I remember correctly. Their book dept is rubbish now compared to other chains and independents . If I need things from somewhere like Boots I look in the local pharmacy or buy online. I know I'm part of the death of our High Streets, but I really don't want to...

I also love Home Bargains, can't get out without buying loads, I noticed the other day they had a notice board outside which said "I only came in for one thing" which is apparently what everyone says at the checkout, including me. It is lovely and clean too, I always think B & M looks a bit grubby :0)
