or check something, as i did earlier with the council that their
system has crashed. I get this time and again, DWP, bank, council,
are they so poor they can't afford more sustainable systems.

Probably for the same reason that when you ring them up you invariably get, "All our operators are busy at the moment, please call back later".

it's quite frustrating though, system crash, hold on the phone, doctors say same thing....

my computer crashed several times yesterday, but i put that down to firefox, which sometimes seems decidedly wobbly.

As far as government departments are concerned, the answer is "yes"...no money is spent to update computer systems....they still use Windows XP!
