Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

To further explain the Cardiff one, a card is a wire brush that is used to comb and clean wool in preparation for spinning, so "to card" is the verb meaning to comb and clean.

I have occasionally filled in for the quizmaster at my local, when he has been on his jollies etc. And I can say it's far more enjoyable to try to answer them than set them. Setting them, it is very difficult to achieve a good balance and pitch them at a decent level. It took me ages to compile them. I take my hat off to people who set them regularly. My mate has been doing the job for 20 years!

I did one recently for my Mum's 70th birthday. The theme was 1936, May and 70. I enjoyed looking up the questions but like you said, it is hard to get a good balance when there are different age groups.
