it's not the most simple question really, it's at least a two-stage one and it's intended as a mild trick question. The simple question would be "I'm 70, my sister's three years younger, how old is she?"

I'm sure it's not staged. I have these sorts of conversations with teenagers regularly and I am sure quite a few still struggle to solve problems like this after they have left school.
