a saying
1 Answers
When there is a sentence with too many 'if's' in it,
eg; 'IF only...' or 'yes but IF that could happen...' My Dad often uses the phrase;
'IF stands stiff on a bald man's quiff'
Now I know that bald men have no quiff and that the phrase is designed to make you confront the 'real' situation, rather than the 'IF'. However I still don't get it and does it exist as a saying at all? he has been known to make things up and get things wrong, words of songs...etc
Can you shed any light on the subject?
Yours greatfully,
