Default E Mail Addy

I have gmail using thunderbird...when I try and e mail a pic from my pictures..it defauts to Microsoft outlook not thunderird...I did have outlook at one time but no longer..how do I get mail to default to thunderbird.... win 10...

You've not told us which version of Windows you're using. The following is for Windows 7 but should be fairly similar elsewhere:

Go to Start > Default Programs.
Click on Set Your Default Programs.
Click on Thunderbird.
Click on Set This Program As Default.

Then click the current default app to see a pop-up menu with other possible apps you can use. If you don't see the app you want to use (and it's not an app from the Windows Store), you'll need to go into the Control Panel to set that program as the default.
To set defaults for individual file types , click Choose default apps by file type. Find the file type you want to change the default app for, click the current default app, and choose the app you want to use from the pop-up menu.

When you want to send a picture Minty does your email ask you to choose an app or automatically default to outlook.?

Is it just when you try to send a picture by email or does the problem apply to clicking on email links as well? (To check, click on the red email link in this random http://stargazerceilings.co.uk/contact/web page . Which program opens? Outlook or Thunderbird?)

Haha Buen Infuriating sometimes. I have had random issues for a couple of days One day Edge is carp, and the next chrome is beggaring about. Not just on the bank, all sites, and don't mention the fantasy football site. Time to try setting up the router I have had stashed for 12 months, just can't face the hassle of hooking up all my devices.

have found a way around it..set up gmail addy in mail on start up as well as direct thunderbird icon..and if I go into photos from start up and not my computer pics it goes with gmail... ta for your answers chaps xx
