There was a tip in Yours magazine. To avoid expensive charges replace
084 numbers with 034.
087 numbers with 037.
I haven't tried it yet but thought I would share this.

I had to call my car insurance company this week, and when I dialled the 0845 number, I had a message to replace it with 0345.

Does anyone know what the charges are for both please ?

Why not just Google it Mikey?

As far as I can work out 084 costs 11p plus service charge per minute.
All 03 numbers are free.
Thanks caran, for being so helpful !
Ofcom regulations require phone providers to treat calls to 03 numbers the same as calls to 01 and 02 numbers. This applies whether you call from a landline or from a mobile.
chiaroscuro....still a tad confused here !

So are 0345 numbers cheaper than 0845 numbers ?
0345 numbers are replacing 0845
0345 numbers are charged at local rate
