Our free recovery service only operates within the limit of the works. Vehicles are not towed to your home or to a garage. You will be responsible for any further recovery"

Roughly 17 years ago I hitched a lift with the driver of a breakdown truck. He told me that he'd spent the past few weeks living in a caravan, with his recovery vehicle parked next to it, at the end of a set of roadworks. He was on call 24 hours per day to tow any broken down vehicle clear of the roadworks but he was only called out twice in just under a month. The rest of the time he simply relaxed and watched telly, etc. Not a bad job for the £300 per day he got paid!
