What purpose are the holes down the right hand side of the newspaper.
There are lots of them in the extreme column and they tend to stick together when you turn a page.

They're 'registration' holes from the printing press to make sure all the colours line up,exactly.
I think they are cause by pins on the rollers of the printing presses as they go round the rollers.

I thought they were where the pitchfork machine had sort of pitch forked it
sort of into the right pile ....
