Here's an interesting case about parking on land that is patrolled by a private parking company:

Often the advice on AB seems to be to ignore notices from such companies.

Does this case show that the notices cannot be ignored? And is the law different in Scotland?

The law was changed when "cowboy clampers" were outlawed. It was only common sense really; why should you be able to park in (say) Tesco's carpark when you feel like and for as long as you feel like it. There have been several court cases in England and the principle that you do indeed owe the money has been established. Whether or not a parking company will pursue...

I think the answer is that she got to the point where pursuing her through the courts was financially viable

The courts have repeatedly ruled that car parking charges are enforceable.

Taking a case all the way to the Supreme Court won't help either (2015):

While the latest case in Scotland might set a record, it's certainly not the first time that Scottish courts have ruled in favour of private parking firms (2016):
