Big Dave's site seems to have gone walkabout so can you help me with :-

15d - Uplifted, achieved very good times (5) - I understand the answer is 'TEMPI' - the first part of the answer is achieved=met reversed (uplifted on a vertical clue - I think) and then 'pi' (or 'po') meaning 'very good' - what is this all about? I don't understand it!

Met reversed. Pi(very good)
Pi as in pious
tempi is fine- pi means very good (as well as 3.14159..)
Pi can be short for pious
Tempi- Met(achieved) reversed + pi(very good)
Mick, if Big Dave is not available I have usually finished the Telegraph crosswords by 8am.

Right, thanks - I still don't understand - since when has 'pi' (pious - or whatever!) been understood as 'very good'? Doesn't make any sense to me!
I have seen it used quite a few times in crosswords, but have never heard the word used with that meaning in real life
