Battle Of Vimy Ridge
I have a great uncle who died on 14th April 1917. He died in a hospital in Arras after being injured on 10th April in France. Would this have been at the battle of Vimy ridge? He was a stretcher bearer with the 27th Field Ambulance and suffered a gunshot wound to the head. So sad!

Vimy Ridge is part of the battle of Arras
It is on the news because so many Canadians died
and we are being sort of global this year
My fathers senior partner ( vet) painted in oils
mounted troops ( cavalry ) going to the front at Arras
Some of his piccies are in store at the Imperial war museum
as a vet his gee-gees are much better than the men
so horrific for him, he never painted in oils again apparently
( on antiques detectives a year or so ago - fronted up by Lake's daughter whom I remember as a 12 y old)

Have you looked at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website?
http:// www.cwg c.org/
You get lots of information there; sometimes a photo of the grave.
