Furniture Handling Charge
9 Answers
We bought a new sofa which when delivered could not get into the living room as it was too big. We were told by the delivery men that the firm would charge us a Handing Charge. The sofa was quite expensive £1700. Does anyone have any idea as to what the charge will be - is it a percentage of the cost or what. Never had this problem before. The sofa was shorter than the one we have but deeper so that's why it wouldn't fit in. I've asked the firm about the financial implications, but as yet have had no joy. Can anyone advise please.

We had this issue with John Lewis some time ago....happily the sofa fitted but the handling charge was clearly witten into the purchase documentation. It was years ago though and I don't remember what it was, just that we checked it out before we signed.
