1000 Square Feet

Can anyone tell me how long/wide a tent would need to be to have two areas consisting of 500 square feet within it - rectangular.

I'll be brave or daft enough to stab at.......

Tent - 50 feet x 20 feet

Areas x 2 - 25 x 20

or

Areas x 2 - 50 x 10

There are far too many combinations to mention. The total area is 1000 square feet. If the tent were square it would measure 31.6ft x 31.6 ft. If it were a very long thin rectangle it could be 200ft by 5ft.
At a guess I would suggest 40 ft x 25 ft or something similar

If your "two areas consisting of 500 square feet" are each squares then the side of one square would be 22' 4½" long (to the nearest half inch). Putting two of those squares side by side would result in rectangle 44' 9" x 22' 4½".

Otherwise, as F-F say, there are an infinite number of possibilities.

BTW, why the hell are you using square feet more than half a century after schools switched entirely to metric units?

Does it say the areas within are squares?

I worked with the word rectangle.

I realised there was not a single solution , so just went with my first (neat and tidy) thoughts.

Lankeela did say rectangular. A rectangle can be a square but I think we are all just giving examples to help lankeela visualise the amount of space involved

I'm the same. When given a temperature in F I can immediately visualise how hot or cold it is, in C I haven't a clue.

....I'm the opposite, jack...been using metric units and "centigrade" since I was eleven...don't really "get" Fahrenheit at all!
