Removing Avg

I have now installed Avast free anti-virus on my computer, but the trouble is that in the possess of removing AVG free anti-virus there are still certain items of this programme that I can't remove via the usual control; panel, add and remove method.

There still remains two items, one just called AVG, but when I click unistall on this a message comes up stating: You cannot uninstall AVG now, to uninstall AVG, you must first uninstall the following AVG products that are integrated into AVG protection, but it does not a list of any AVG products.

The other item is called AVG protection, but when I click unistall on this one, it comes up with the message: welcome to anti-virus free, install now.

Has anyone any idea how I can get rid of AVG once and for all, thank you?

Does AVG offer an uninstall programme on their site ?

I have never used AVG, but can appreciate that it is Not easy to remove fully.

Thank you both for your answers, I have now removed it fully by their web-site but it is not easy, waiting for the various operations and the multi switching off and reloading of my computer.

Then your troubles don't end there, because of certain problems shown up by Avast, that needed to be rectified.

Cheers aog and please allow me to reply to murraymints in what is your thread.

Gretel (that's 'Mrs H'.) is pretty good although she does have an eyesight problem. Macular degeneration and Glaucoma which is being monitored regularly by the Hospital. She has had three injections directly into an eyeball and has a check-up on Friday of this week.
