Probelm With Word.

I’m looking how to delete the following from a WORD doc. I’ve looked in Word Options but can’t spot it.
I input a line of spaces, ----, which when the end of the line is reached, converts itself into a solid line which can’t be deleted. Hovering the cursor over the line produces a symbol which vertically looks like
A downward arrow
an equals sign
An upwards arrow.
It refuses to be dragged.

Although you see it as a line,Word actually thinks that it's created a border. So you need to remove that border:

Sounds like its an autocorrect feature

I don't use Word (and the rest of Office) unless I REALLY have to!

That symbol comes up when you join 2 pages together without a space. You should be able to double click on the funny symbol and it will split into two.
