Mobile phone, Devil's invention?

Hi dot, mine is for work alone,as soon as I am on the way home,it goes off,we survived before we had the bloody things, I yhink they are a great invention that has gone potty,it would not bother me one iota if I didn't have one,but I have to have one for emergencies at work.

I've never had one, and don't want one either. If I'm going to meet someone I'll be there at the arranged time. This system has worked brilliantly for me for the past 53 years without me having some uncontrollable urge to phone through with details about my journey every few minutes.

exactly how I feel halfa, I resisted for years,but now afraid to say mine is a condition of getting work from council, when you get on a bus or train all you see is people looking at or speaking into the bloody things !!!!

SR - correct me if im wrong but I thought I read in an old post of yours that you got about �150 a week coz you were moaning that your brothers/sisters in a home cost �600 a week.What ever the amoun - you got a damn sight more than �5 a day!

Anyway - back to the question - yes I could just about live without my mobile - just - as I also text from my PC !!

I honestly could not live without my mobile. I have tried turning it off at times but it doesnt last long before i have to switch it on again!!

Do you think I need psychological help!??!!!!!!

Yes - I could manage perfectly well without it. Have had the same old fashioned model for ten years and use it only for emergencies. In fact when my car broke down and I had to call the AA, they asked for my mobile number and I had to keep them holding on while I rummaged through my diary to find where it was written down.

Actually, I think mobile phones can add greatly to the stress which people suffer in their daily lives. They have resulted in the fact that people are "reachable" 24 hours a day and they feel unloved or unwanted if somebody isn't ringing them up day and night. I think they have also resulted in the greatest breach of bad manners on the planet. I have had people come to dinner and place their mobile phones on the table still switched on. (I tell them that our meal tables are a mobile free zone) and I have been at both a wedding service in a church and a funeral in a crematorium where people have left their phones switched on and they've started ringing.

What annoys me is when you are having a conversation with someone and they stop dead when their mobile rings, to me it is the height of rudeness. I have been to a funeral where somebody's mobile rang at a poignant moment.

In cinemas, theatres and the like, I would like to see anyone whose mobile sounds or they hold a conversation on it ejected without further notice.

I also believe that we need to tighten up on the law regarding the use of hand held mobiles whan driving. Why not use cameras to catch the culprits? I am sick and tired of seeing a total disregard for the law and the safety of other road users. I think their should be a minimum fine of �150 plus 3 penalty points. I have a Bluetooth set and quuite often I won't answer or make a call if I need to devote my full attention to the road. My life, or more importantly the life of others is not worth a 'phone call.
