It's one of the few (if not the only) category on ebay where auctions are not legally binding - no matter how many chancers or wind up merchants 'bid' and tell you otherwise (but check the blurb on the website for peace of mind) - so it's basically used as a classifieds board.
With all that said, it was still the estate agent that actually sold it in the end. ALthough it was to a property person who'd bought three or four flats in the same block through the same agent.
I used to be an estate agent in a former life (but I have now been healed!). If you ask an agent for a copy of their conditions (contract). Check the wording carefully and you may find that they have worded it in such a way that you can use an internet based site AND and agent. Make sure the agent is on a no sale no fee agreement and use both. If they are a 'sole seller' you will have to pay them even if you sell it to your brother!
I know that some of the internet only sites explain the wording
I have to say that it MUST be worth spending a few quid to have a real sign made with your HOME phone number on it. make it look like a real agency sign. If you are handy with a design program, get one designed then get on the web and find a sign maker like
In my company, many properties were viewed and offered on, as soon as the sign went up... and before the advert went in the paper or on the web. WHICH? sell a book (but I can't remember the title) that tells you how to sell a house yourself.
Save yourself thousands by getting a sign made then send me some money! Best wishes.
