Rainbow Puzzle

I am totally stuck on the following questions in the Rainbow Puzzle A-Z London quiz.I have been looking at them nightly for a fortnight! Can anybody give me some clues for the following: 3, 9,15,17,31, 32, 47 and 96.
Also in question 87, I have at last worked out what the numbers mean but is the answer an actual name or a nickname which has more connection with the RA? Thank you very much. I am happy to reciprocate with any answers I do have!

9 - anagram
15 - what do young children call horses
17 anagram gives a building
31 - tower of london I think
a clue for 53 would be appreciated

No 53. Think of a very ordinary tool followed by a slang term for forger which is also a common surname.
