Strange Spot Produces Something Weird.
8 Answers
I had an appendectomy 32 years ago. The last few weeks I had a strange spot appear on my scar. It did not go away and was red and sore to touch. It came up like a wart but when I got out of the shower I knocked it off while drying myself. In the middle, I could see a sort of black spot and it was sticking up. I gave it a little tug and much to my horror, I pulled out a three inch long piece of what I can only describe as blue plasticky twine. I can only think that this is what was used to stitch me up. Now, everyone I have spoken to say I should tell the hospital, but after all these years I feel a bit foolish doing this. I am not seeking any sort of recompense as I don't see the need, but does anyone think I should tell the hospital? Thanks for any advice.

Do you feel well in general? any fever or aches and pains? soreness or tenderness around your scar? Has the spot healed, is it still sore? weeping? anything? if all the answers are no then I certainly wouldn’t be worried by it but of you are at all concerned then talk to your own GP.
