I wonder if existing "drug lords" would feel that they should then double and redouble their efforts to flog drugs in the US in order to recoup the extra expenses; and maybe put the price up too. Or perhaps the US should tackle separate issues separately rather than see drug busts as a useful income to fund public projects. Mind you, there's a point. Why not come to an agreement to simply limit the drug trade in return for just one bust every x years, that'd produce a regular income, encourage the trade, a win/win arrangement for both sides.
