I have a volvo s40 1998, the service light has come on, but as i'm servicing it myself i cant get the light out. i've seen people on e bay selling the "know how" to switch it off. do any of you guys know how. cheers

It is easy on my car you toggle through the computer until it displays miles to service then press and hold the reset button until the light goes out and mileage to next service shows.

If yours does not do this look for Volvo forums and ask there.
i think you will find your service light can only be turned off with a diagnostic machine. please correct me if im wrong..
There seem to be mixed opinion on this and I don't know for sure - my Volvo is so old you just disconnect the battery !!

There are posibly two methods worth trying ;

1. Press and hold the odometer reset button, turn the ignition from position I to position II and wait several seconds until the display blinks or there's a bleep.

2. Turn the ignition to position II and immediately press and hold the odometer reset button until the display blinks and/or you hear a bleep.
