My favourite quiz programme, Have I Got News For You, started again last Friday. Why I earth did someone at the BBC think it would be a good idea to employ Patrick Stuart as the chairman? I have never seen such a bumbling error strewn performance in my life - he could not even read from the auto-cue. It made the previous performances by John Prescott and Brian Blessed seem polished & professional
Angus made some comment to Caroline Quentin making people speculate that they'd maybe had an affair. I think the tension between the two made it funnier though.
He didn't seem at ease, especially when reading from the idiot boards. But there again, how can anyone fit well into the role when they keep changing whoever's chairing ?
Oddly maybe, i read that differently. Paul Merton doesn't obviously put hm down but it's there.
I remember as has been mentioned, that Hislop and Merton were instrumental in blocking any possible return, for once they agreed I guess...?
For me Angus Deayton was a great host for the show, and it only comes close to those days if they have an exceptional host.
I recall reading that Paul Merton blocked AD for very personal reasons, cherchez a femme.
My favourite chairmen are Alexander Armstrong and Damien Lewis, Patrick Stewart seemed to be trying too hard to be funny and missed the goal every time.
