As New Judge hints there may be more to a 'cash only' shop like my local Chinese takeaway! There are 4 in the family who run it, they each have brand new BMW's ,replaced regularly, and live in nice detached houses that must cost £350,000 minimum. Yet the shop is only open for 5 hours a night 6 days a week. How does a shop that only trades for 30 hours a week provide a good standard of living for 4 families?
Talking about the new £ coin reminds me that it has not generated half as much fuss a when the 10 shilling note was replaced by the 50p coin.Or when the £1 note went out!. When the £1 note went I was working at a company in North London. The weekly paid men would be seen queuing up at the cash office and would demand to be paid in £1 notes. This meant each man would get a huge wad of cash, even in those days some of the workers were getting over £500 a week. They hated it when the £1 coin came in .
The new ones are lighter - only 4.375 kg.
Still need big pockets though, or purses. A sporran could inflict serious harm if it got swinging.
They might need your services, Mamya.
