I have a secondhand Micra which came with a cd player fitted. I have hundreds of cassette tapes which I cannot use in my car any more. I have purchased several cds since having this car (a 1995 model) so don't want to replace the cd player. My question is this: can one buy a combined cd and tape player which fits in a car? Bearing in mind that my car is 22 years old and therefore has a smallish slot for any media player?

You could buy a devise that will convert your tapes into CD's, pretty simple to do and not expensive.

Thanks. I may look into it but it would be time consuming as I have a hundred or more but worth looking into. Also the cdplayer in my car goes into a wobbly after awhile. Does the player need cleaning or something?
If you are using a "real" computer to post here (as opposed to a tablet; your lack of typos indicates that you are), you can use that to convert your tapes to CDs. Take the output from your casette player into the microphone socket on your computer to give you a digital version of the tape and then produce CDs from there. As you say, though, VERY time-consuming as you would have to play every tape.
unless you plug in a personal cassette player in your car ?
I think you will need to look on E/bay or search the Internet. The problem could be getting the right fit item.
