The ride that the girl was killed on, is not going to open yet, but does anybody know if it had seat-belts?

indeed. however, the imposition of a rule ("don't stand up") to mitigate a risk is unlikely to save the operators from a successful prosecution.

Some good ideas on this topic of what to do, and in the end they will know doubt come up with something.

Its OK some saying, she shouldn't have stood up, but kids are kids, and I am sure we have all done things we shouldn't in our younger days!

I suppose they could go to far, and make them look like those covered lifeboat dinghy's, but with only a window to look out of, and no water spray in your face, there would be no thrill.
Theme parks have to adhere to safety regulations and thousands of people have enjoyed this particular ride without mishap. I think all we can say is that the little girl ignored the rules. A tragic end to what should have been a happy day out.

Not really. If there's any chance of the vessel capsizing, the ride shouldn't be allowed to happen in the first place.
