(cont) I have said this before but you will have control over what your child is called for a very brief period indeed....basically until your child can talk and will be able to articulate what he/she calls him/herself. once a child has friends, then there will be input from them over what they call your child and once he/she reaches teen years then all bets are definitely off.

If you tell any Roman Catholics about the name "Noveen" they will think you are referring to "Novena", which is a set of RC prayers lasting nine days. I gather you promise a "Novena" if you are prepared to go through a lot of set prayers with a view to a special request or to show some kind of contrition. But I'm not RC, so you'd have to ask a priest for exact details. Or the Intergoogle.

I'll be honest. Before I looked at the answers to your question, Noveen sounded like a feminine name.

In case you're wondering, Novin sounds much more masculine.

I never met a guy named Kerry here in Ireland, met plenty of girls named Kerry and been to the county, then there's the Kerry Blue dog breed - the Novena is not necessarily 9 days, can do a 9 hour - a prayer every hour for 9 hours and a 3 day novena to St Theresa of The Little Flower :) I did think novena when I read the name. Depends where you are in the world, maybe it's popular name in other countries and how you say it, yet my own Dad's second name was Mary - how he got through life unscathed by the bullies I never know

The use of Marie as a second hyphenated name for boys is widespread in France. Jean-Marie, Paul-Marie etc.

The difficulty with a name like is that the poor child will be asked to explain it for the rest of his or hers life.

Whatever its derivation, it sounds kind of silly, so why choose it in the first place ?
