Who knows perhaps there may be an appeal for a stiffer sentence.

With the extent of the injuries that poor child had, I find the sentence to be inappropriately lenient.
But as divebuddy has said - the injuries happened over a week, that means they went back and attacked the child more than once.
When you attack a baby like that, it would seem like a deliberate act.
