Could A Computer Buff Solve A Puzzle?
7 Answers
I have/had a 3 page document in Windows. When I next opened up the document, the first two pages had disappeared, but page 3 which was the last page I worked on was still there. I cannot fathom out how the first two pages vanished. I did not delete anything, just saved the changes before closing down. Gremlins?

3 page document - what type of document?
When I opened the document - opened it in what program?
Some version of Word (if that is what it was) do have some recovery options see if any of those help.
Also read this (I know you have not lost it but maybe you can find an old copy with the two missing pages in it)

You are sure you didn't inadvertently highlight the first two pages when you typed the third page, and consequently only had the third page when you saved the changes ?
Do you have back-ups ? Does your word processor saves changes and allow you to go back ?
Can only make wild guesses.
Load the file into a hex editor and search the data, see if the text from the earlier pages still exist and can be copied/saved.

Many thanks everyone, I shall work my way through your advice. This is a Word document, nothing complicated, which I update monthly. Have used it for years without trouble and am always asked if I want to save the changes when I have updated it. I always do, and it is a continuous dcument, so I cannot see how only the last page could have been saved. But many thanks, I will plod on with your suggestions.
