Toilet Seat Not Staying Up
34 Answers
Hi All,
I bought a new toilet seat, a wooden one, the top cover will stay up, but the seat itself will not. i have adjusted the hinges and no joy. the previous seat did not have a problem. i went on google, but apart from two suction stickers and a piece of wire, there seemed to be no other advice.
Is this a fault with the seat/fixings, can I move the hinges?
thank you.

The lid - complete with the rubber feet - is about an inch thick and the seat is about 3/4" thick. There's no room for 1¾ inches of wood and rubber resting against the cistern. They haven't a chance of staying up, so they'll have to go and will be replaced by thinner ones made from plastic
