Hi, I updating my CV which I haven't done since I started my last job in 2011. Since then I have another 6 years to include with one company, within this was a year out for Maternity leave - should I detail this specifically? And recently after leaving my company in February, I took 3 months off to Project manage our house extension - should I detail this as well? Never want to clutter up a CV with too much, but I also understand its better to not have gaps in your employment history and the only 2 'gaps' are maternity leave and my overseeing my house re-build, which alone is good experience in project managing! Thanks

Further, whatever the law might say about discrimination, many employers aren't keen to take on women with young families (as they fear that they'll have lots of time off to look after their kids when they're ill, or that they might get pregnant again). So mentioning that you've got a child might go against you (unless, of course, you're applying for a job where childcare skills are important; then it might help you).
However mentioning that you've got the self-confidence to oversee the construction of a house extension would seem to be something that most definitely deserves a place on a c.v.
