Dick....IMHO, Iceberg Lettuce rarely tastes of anything at all, unlike a nice Cos Lettuce, that has flavour as well as crunch.

its a kind of chemical taste.
Whereas I love iceberg lettuce.

Maybe try a different shop.
I haven't bought any more since ... well forever. The feel of leaves in the mouth is awful even when tasteless (and as I recall it's subtle but not tasteless anyway). I congratulate you on your decision.
Do you eat veg, OG?
Oh yes. Properly cooked and decent tasting veg.
was it a whole lettuce or just some in a bag.?

The company i worked for developed the packaging for all the ready to eat salads, it was a mixture of tiny tiny holes in the packaging, x amount per metre and a antimist coating.

Dave.
As you are trying to look after your health moving on from Iceberg will do you no harm, it is nutritionally bereft.
Simples, just buy an Organic Iceberg Lettuce as a one-off. If that tastes normal, you can be sure it's the pesticides that you are tasting. What could be simpler?
Next time you go to Tescos buy yourself a bag of lambs lettuce in a bag. Its really nice, packed full of goodness and lasts a nice long while in the fridge. Google lambs lettuce and see all the goodness in it.
