To be honest I doubt if I'd notice any difference. One would have to have had experience of a long period of not adding it and noting the results, and then on a similar vehicle a long period of adding it and noting the results for comparison. Chucking the occasional dose in, is done on trust.
When was the derv Filter last changed Ivor? is it local driving, eg stop / start ? if so, drop a full bottle of Wynns in 3/4 tank of fuel, If you have a motorway / Duel Carriageway near by, give the car a blast, get into 3rd 4th, 3rd /4th if possible & make the engine work, depending on your car, some have 2 filters, one underneath out of view.
I bought my first new car in 1985 - it had fuel injectors. I decided I would use injector cleaner every 50,00-1,0000 miles to keep the injectors clean. That car did all but 200,000 miles before I scrapped it; the fuel consumption never changed over the 20 years. Since then all my cars have had fuel injectors and I've treated them all the same as the first with injector cleaner. The current car (a diesel) has just passed 165,000 miles, has never had a problem passing its MoT and has the same fuel consumption now as when I bought it new.
Have I been wasting my money? Who knows but the cost is trivial compared to all the other running costs. Furthermore, failing an MoT on emissions can be expensive, as can replacing fuel injectors. Will I continue to use injector cleaner? Most certainly.

Hi Ivor, I'm not questioning your reply regards the position of the filter but if you check it will be found outside of the tank on the fuel line, I can not see the makers inserting the filter inside the tank, as on a service this would take too much time to replace as a normal filters location, If it's possible with "SAFETY IN MIND" Check under the car from the tank Forward to Injector Pump. on 61000 I doubt injectors are needed.
