I know abut outsourcing too, was an outsourcing manager for a while.

I also know about TCS, I had them removed from my team even though I was not allowed to replace them!

I was in a resiliency meeting yesterday and over 70% of the issues where with a TCS system, which runs approx 5% of what our old mainframe system runs. None of us would have jobs if the 95% of our main business was not running reliably. Most people do not grasp that IT decisions in big business are made by horse trading kick backs and the promise of large bonuses among managers with no clue about IT. They never ask IT experts, they just employ us to do what we can to make their bad decisions work afterwards.

The whole attitude of BA over this fiasco has been risible. They are desperately trying to cover their backs, and still haven't provided a proper explanation for exactly what happened. Its ruddy disgraceful.
