i am going to las vegas from england in 2 weeks. should i change my pounds into dollars there or at home

Neither.

Put them in your bank account and use a debit card in an ATM. The overall charges will be less than changing cash at either end.

If you are set on taking cash, probably better to do it here. Shop around for a good exchange rate (M&S, the Cheque Shop are possibles).
Las Vegas may be an exception, but changing pounds in the US is not always easy and is often at poor rates.

Check out the rate at your local post office also remember that while a travel agents rate may appear to be a little better you do not get the old commission free ( but we will charge you a fiver delivery cost to branch dodge). We found it a pain to try to and do a cash exchange there so a card for ATM and I think from trawlling here the Nationwide have the best card deals check search the site under topic lists on left to confirm!

You will need some dollars to start off with, don't travel without any. If you're going to Las Vegas you'll probably have to change flights somewhere in the US which will mean if you want to eat or drink anything in the airport you'll need dollars, also getting from the airport to your hotel will involve spending dollars. Someone told me that M&S are doing a really good deal on dollars on the moment, though I haven't checked it out myself.
