A day time drama on ITV

Hello all, Can anyone help me with the title of a drama that was on ITV in the afternoons, i think it stopped for the Xmas programming. It was about a doctor who'd been widowed and took his 2 kids to live in a new town, i think! They said it would return in the new year after a cliff hanger ending of a teenager in a coma after an operation. Does this sound familiar to anyone??? Many thanks in advance to anyone who knows x

Although known by the elongated UK title when shown on ITV it was previously shown on UK satellite (LIVINGtv I think!) under its original name "Everwood".
