Internal window
4 Answers
I am moving to a new house in a couple of weeks and in the wall between the hall and the living room is a window. At the mo the glass is not nice but has the potential to be very eyecatching. Has anyone had a coloured glass window made for them and if so how much (the size is probably 4 foot by 2 foot). Are there any building regs regarding the thickness of the glass in internal windows.

On a slightly more useful note - large DIY stores sell things like large glass bricks/tiles that are available in different colours. They are quite thick and kind of rippled ( for privacy, I suppose) but look as if they'd still let through a fair bit of light.

Thanx all, I did think about the fish tank idea as I saw it in another house I viewed, but me being me I would probably forget to feed the cat as is often the case with my kids (godsend now they can talk properly). I'm not sure the wall would be thick enough anyway. Boo have extensively googled stained glass and am amazed at the designs, they are wonderful but I imagine outrageously expensive. I might see if I can find a student who wants to take on the job if I can find one. Buildersmate, thanx for your answer, I think the window is definitely over 800m off the ground so I should have no worrys regarding safety glass.
