“Corbyn to introduce rap duo Run the Jewels at Glastonbury” …. “ Mr Corbyn's shadow chancellor and long-term ally, John McDonnell, is also scheduled to appear at the Somerset festival, as well as Labour MP Clive Lewis…”

(Just as an aside, I’ve never heard of this band, so I googled the lyrics to some of their songs. Best I don’t post them).

...and have been caught out from time to time reading books.

God, the embarrassment
Let's put right anyone who might think that I compile my answers from Googling.

I dislike Google and do Not trust the organisation. Consequently I 'Bing' instead....A far more friendly Search Engine. ☺☺☺

Hans.
Bing? Uhhh... well, this is five years, old, things may have improved

I dont get your post, five years onn in Technology and it is supposed to be relevant?

Not Bing user myself, I use duckduckgo.
Mixing it with the kids didn't work too well for John Prescott when Chumbawamba's drummer threw a bucket of ice cold water over him at the Brit Awards ... but at least he managed to avoid punching him in the face.
G'afternoon naomi....I apologise for having caused a digression in your thread. However, I hope that a short response to jno and youngmafbog will put the thread back on tracks.

Bing has improved considerably over the past few years. However, for an excellent Search Engine, that does Not track one's every move on the Internet, it has to be duckduckgo, which I also use on occasions.

I now think that if anyone wishes further discussion, about Search Engines, it should be by way of a question in the Technology section of AB.

Hans.
YMB - //No, as we are seeing, nowhere is safe from Marxist propaganda especially where the inexperienced and ideologically prepared students are concerned. //

Do you mean 'un-prepared'?

You haven't been to Glastonbury lately have you.
No I mean what I wrote.
ideologically prepared = indoctrinated in our schools by left wing teachers.

No, I have not been to Glastonbury an never will. As Gromit has already pointed out it is a left wing festival so i dont think my views would go down too well there, do you?

Hans, no problem.

Thanks for the clarification.

I think the idea that pupils are 'indoctrinated' by 'left wing' teachers is a nonsense, any such action has long been strangled by the rigour of
the National Curriculum.

As for Glastonbury being a 'left wing' festival - do you know of any other kind? Right wingers tend to populate places like Henley Regatta, Wimbledon and so on.

Have I been to those places? No, so of course, I cannot comment, which leads me to wonder how You feel qualified to comment about Glastonbury since you have never been there.

I only ask because some on this site have a real issue with people commenting on things about which they admit to having no knowledge.

It doesn’t bother me – an opinion is valid if it is what you think – but I hope you don’t fall foul of the Knowledge Police – some of whom are on here already.
I am intrigued that you would avoid a music and arts festival since you perceive it as ‘left wing’ – does that mean you attend no cultural events at all, since they are all as ‘left wing’ as Glastonbury?
As I understand it Glastonbury's a privately owned thing that Mr Eavis runs on his farm and sells tickets for. He can and does invite whoever he likes to appear and perform, so it can be as political as he wants it to be.

Jeremy will be preaching to the converted and will revel in the waves of adulation that wash over him from the adoring masses.
> but I hope you don’t fall foul of the Knowledge Police....

Could there be a 'Sting' there? ;-)
//I think the idea that pupils are 'indoctrinated' by 'left wing' teachers is a nonsense,//

You are entitled to your opinion, I am entitled to mine.

The National Curriculum does not stop left wing propaganda being spread, there are plenty of extra curricular activities in which to do it/
YMB - Do you wish to address the remainder of my post - regarding all cultural events as being 'left wing' - if that is how you perceive them - and whether that prevents you from attending?
