Patricia Cornwell Kay Scarpetta novels
5 Answers
I have just finished reading "Point of Origin", one of the Patricia Cornwell novels featuring Kay Scarpetta. I am confused because in this book, Benton Wesley, Kay's boyfriend, is killed but in a later book, he seems to appear on the character list. Has there been an identification mistake in "Point of Origin" and he isn't really dead? Or do the books not have much in the way on continuity?

Does this also mean that Carrie Greathen, who was supposedly shot down in her helicopter over the sea in Point of Origin, not actually dead either? It really annoys me when writers do this as you can never actually rely on what you read. It reminds of the Bobby shower scene in Dallas! It really upset me as a child watching this and then it all being undone in a later series! Don't worry about spoiling the storyline for me, I'm disillusioned already!
I agree with all of you I used to enjoy Patricia Cornwell but I've stopped reading them as I really don't care about any of the characters they are all so unlikeable now.
Have you read Kethy Reichs or Linda Fairstein - they both actually DID the job their characters do (unlike Patricia Cornwell who is just a writer) their books are much better and the characters infinitely more likeable.
