no it will explode (well pop actually!) as the pressure builds up inside and there is nowhere for it to escape so it will pop open at the seam.

This process can be shown clearly if a small dent is put into a ping pong ball you can put it in a bowl of hot water or hold it over steamand the heat will pop the dent out in most cases.

Be careful not to scold yourself if you decide to try out this theory!
