Green and his ilk would argue that they are not against people on the basis of skin colour or ethnic background, but purely on the basis of their motives for coming to the UK, i.e, being "economic migrants." One of the things anti-immigration groups often say is that they cannot be considered "racist" because they want to stop white Eastern Europeans from coming into the UK as well as Asians, Africans etc. There is of course an argument to be had about what exactly constitutes "racism." Are nationalities the same as "races?" Is a French person a member of the "French race" even though s/he might look exactly like a white British person?
