Wimbledon - Channels
10 Answers
It's a big day today (so I'm told - not my cup of Pimms personally), and you can bet that the BBC will be playing silly beggars with matches hopping from channel to channel at the whim of a demented scheduler.
Instead of suffering on BBC1 and/or BBC2, or via the slow and irritating Red Button menus, try directly accessing the BBC's streaming channels on Freeview 601 upwards and Sky 980 upwards - these seem to be much better at staying with a match on a single channel number - you may even be able to record whole matches from these streams (depends on your box).
Good luck to Mr Murray (the brave brit or choking scot - delete as applicable) and Ms Konta

I've been accessing the "red button" content on 601, 602 etc for many moons....lot less stressful, all round!
As for HD and standard definition....it can depend on the quality of your TV set. The decent brands (Samsung, LG, Panasonic) do have a quite noticeable difference between HD and SD...with cheapo/own-brand makes, there may be not be such a difference.

HD really only matters when you get up to 40" sets and above - below that SD looks OK at normal viewing distances.
On my 42" Sony HD is miles better than SD (even without my specs on) - on a 28" Sony that a friend has you'd struggle to tell the difference.
I agree about 'good' sets too - although it can be more about how the TV is set-up rather than the brand. I've seen some horrible HD on an oversaturated and over-contrasted Panasonic and some excellent HD on a cheap and cheerful Aldi set.
