I have been to a cardiologist because I have a problem (SVT) I have had this a long time (15 years) under control, but all of a sudden in the last two months, out of control and many emergency visits to my A & E. Because this happened so many times and this hospital did not seem to want to do much, my GP thought I should see someone privately. Anyway, the cardiologist wrote to the hospital Cardiology department to get copies of the ultrasonic examination and the ECG print outs whilst I was having an SVT episode, over a month ago and they have sent nothing, also they have not sent anything to my GP, although they did inform him I had attended A & E. Do I have the right to ask for my information, is it my legal right, can anybody help. By the way A & E were wonderful!

Yes you do have the legal right to do whatsoever you want with your medical records........those records belong to YOU.
This is the NHS being unhelpful and I would ask to speak to the NHS Cardiologist's secretary and ask her for a copy of the required investigations....there may well be a fee.

Thanks Sqad, I knew you wouldn't let me down. Hope you are keeping well. This SVT is a pain - 6 visits to A & E in 4 weeks - they were fantastic, we were on first name terms. Now the cardiologist has changed my medication and I have been ok for 5 weeks, keeping my fingers crossed. I have phone the hospital but all I get is an answer machine, will try next week. Will let you know what happens. Thanks again. June
Thanks for the feedback.....keep us informed.

FAO Sqad. Apparently the information was sent on the 22nd June - but has not been received. The secretary was going to fax it to my cardiologist last week, but it has not appeared yet. Fortunately or unfortunately I had to pay a visit last night to A & E(SVT) so asked for the print outs of the attack and when having adenosine injection and have sent these to him.
