Can anyone share any tips? We've booked a last minute holiday to Monbahus and have decided to go via ferry. We are unsure on which would be the best ferry crossing route to take. Any suggestions?

Among several other factors e.g. price; your choice may depend on where you are travelling from and how much/ little you want to drive in France. For example if you live close to Portsmouth, there is a ferry service to St Malo or Caen which will leave you to drive circa 650km or 725km respectively. From Calais its 900+km. Suggest you list essential/preferred criteria then compare what's available and then choose the one that fits all/most.
Make sure your car insurance covers you for driving abroad.

Most UK insurance does NOT cover driving abroad by default so contact them and ask.
A breathalyser kit is a requirement I understand.
This may help confirm/clarify requirements. . . .
